In a Versailles State of Mind....

Happy Monday!!!

Last week I was terribly sick with the stomach bug (I wish it upon no one!).  We all know when you're that sick you have no energy to do anything, and even more important...you don't want to touch any materials just to not "infect" it.  LOL!  Anyhow, during that time, I finally had time to watch a movie that I simply judged by its cover. Marie Antoinette.  It's a 2006 biographical film that is loosely based on the life of the Queen consort in the years leading up to the French Revolution.  Now it does NOT surprise me that the film won an Academy Award for Best Costume Design!!!   They were DIVINE!   As I watched the movie I just fell in love with the colors, the textures, the delicate tones, the elegance and all of the LACE {you know I have an addiction to anything LACE...hee hee} Oh my, I could just go on and on and on......

The film has me extremely inspired to make some headpieces!  So stay tuned on what I design over the next few weeks once I'm done with a few project that have me busy for the month of January.

Did you watch the movie?  What are your thoughts of all the fashions?  The shoes?  The feathers?  The hair?  I told you I could go on and on!  LOL!!  Post your comment below!

Au revoir

  2. Hello Darling! Welcome to the Blogosphere. I must say, I love this topic. I am an admitted Francophile. After visiting France, and Versailles a few years ago I came home and watched this movie, and read one of Marie Antoinette's biographies. Hands down one of my favorite places on earth thus far, and one of my favorite historical characters. If you ever get the chance to visit The Louvre, they have a collection of the actual fabric samples Marie would look over to choose for her gowns. One can only dream of how sumptous the satins and silks were, of course not to mention the laces...Le sigh!
